Our yoga studio at Balance caters to a variety of students. We have a growing population of beginner students who are enjoying the Kripalu and TAYS influence at Balance. Our beginner classes cater to developing flexibility and strength of both the mind and body. Our Yoga Director Dr. Mandy Wintink earned her PhD in neuroscience and psychology before becoming a life coach and yoga teacher in the kripalu tradition. Mandy also draws expertise from her athletic background as a varsity hockey player and assistant coach and touring competitive ultimate player. Her eclectic mix creates an environment that challenges the body and mind toward both upper and lower limits, fosters body-mind awareness, and cultivates relaxation. Mandy loves teaching her beginner classes by providing a welcoming environment for students to explore their edges. Her signature class is her Boot Camp class where she helps students understand the need to “listen to their body” rather than the teacher, creating a pun with the class name.
Mike Lovas, Mechanical Engineer, Biomedical Engineer, Kripalu Yoga Teacher, and Naturopathic Medical Student, also creates an eclectic mix combined with his elite athletic background in squash and ultimate. His signature class, Yoga for Athletes, class is challenging and welcoming to many athletes who wants to challenge their strength and endurance of mind and body.
Jeannine Saulnier, Personal Fitness Trainer and Counselor, has been teaching yoga since 2001 and then recertified with TAYS in 2007 to bring the combination of experience and wisdom to her signature class for students 50 years+. Jeannine has a wonderful following of inspired silver yoginis. Jeannine is also teaching to junior high teachers in the Balance Outreach program at a local school.
Helen Fong is the most recent addition to the Balance Team. She was trained with TAYS in 2006 after having completed her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. She is a passionate teacher who enjoys crafting unique flow sequences. She has been imparting her wisdom to her students Saturday mornings during her signature class Beginner Yoga.
