PEI's traveling Yoga Shala - with classes in Charlottetown, Souris and Montague.
Ruth's Blend - an eclectic mix of asana reflecting Ruth's decades of teaching and many style influences including Astanga, Kripalu, and Iyengar. Also reflecting her many teachers including Beryl Bender Birch, David Swenson, Mary Beth Nehl, Glenn Black, and Doug Keller. Classes are full of detail, compassion, breath, and humour. Both Beginners and Intermediate levels are offered. Hands-on assists and adjustments, handouts for home practice.
Astanga - offered in Charlotteown once a week. 80 minutes of breath led asana flow which detoxifies, relaxes, stimulates and calms the body and mind. Primary Series mostly but Second Series (modified) is led once a month.
Meditation - once a week in Charlottetown - an hour that begins with the Gayatri Mantra, continues with the night's focus introduced, followed by silence for anywhere from 20-40 minutes. Afterward there is a friendly discussion of the experience, if desired. A closing chant "May the Long Time Sun" brings the class to an end. The class introduces many styles and methods of meditation all directed to helping people find what works for them and to get more people meditating regularly. Group meditation is powerful and adds to the experience.
Workshops: Saturday morning workshops are offered throughout the winter and spring on an assortment of topics including Meditation, Astanga Yoga, Do It Yourself Yoga Therapy (based on the work of Doug Keller, and taught with his blessings).
Yoga Teacher Training - 200 and 500 hour levels. In alignment with Yoga Alliance standards. Classes are organized when a minimum of 6 students for 200 hour and 4 students for 500 hours are registered. The program has been well received with participants discovering that such a program teaches far more than asana. It is a life-transforming experience. Personal growth is as important as learning how to teach Yoga.
