Yoga Educator
In the course of working 25 years in the wellness & lifestyle industry, Jo-Ann D’alfonso became a supporter of Yoga through her own personal experience.
Jo-Ann is an experienced Yoga Educator with more than 3,000 teaching hours certified in the Kripalu tradition. It appeals to her personal intention where total perfection is not demanded. As a dedicate Yoga Educator in the theory and practice of Yoga Jo-Ann is also registered with IAYT (international association for yoga therapist). She has certified in Yoga Therapy using the Anasura princi-ples. With her certified 200hr TT and her 300hrs Registered Yoga therapist, and her advanced Level Professional TT in Pranayama and Self-Awakening Yoga she is well into completing her 1,000hours Yoga Therapist Certification with the Nosara Yoga Institute of Costa Rica with long time Senior Kripalu teacher Brahmanand Don Stapleton. Jo-Ann has also studied and teaches Mindfulness meditation.
Jo-Ann is co-director and trainer for the Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training School (AYTT) in Nova Scotia where she herself graduated in 2001. She has also been a force behind the Yoga Atlantic Teacher Association and was director for the annual Atlantic Yoga Conference held in Halifax, NS.
To add to her in depth knowledge and range of Yoga practices she is also versed in Thai Yoga Massage, Pranassage techniques, postural analysis and structural alignment. With her exemplary communication skills she has supported her clients as a wellness and lifestyle counselor, motivational speaker, event planner and workshop coordinator. Her teaching and thera-peutic skills have been honed by an empathetic presence, which is adaptable and flexible depending on the specific need of each individual. Through witness-ing, assessing, supporting and responding to each person a one-by-one basis, she is able to identify the priorities and tactics most suitable for the individual and continually support them on their own path.
Jo-Ann lived in Mahone Bay Nova Scotia where she had combined B&B retreat centre with a Yoga Studio. She now lives in Ottawa looking to enhance that ex-perience with awareness in supporting her students to discover for themselves the surprising elements of Yoga. Her goal is to be a loving and supportive guide in the personal journey of each of each student.
