Catherine Guest has been teaching inter-disciplinary yoga on the South Shore of Nova Scotia since 2003. Her yoga journey began in 1989, just after her first son was born, and continues with joyful dedication. Certified at the 500 hour level by Mike and Maxine Munro, her teacher training continues with Hart Lazer, with whom she has studied for about ten years. Other significant teachers include: Mark Darby, David Swenson, Jody Manley, the Desikachar family, David Thomas, Yogendra Mishra, and Kim Downing. Catherine's focus is in the Ashtanga tradition in the lineage of Sri Pattabhi Jois, an eight-limbed practice guided by the teachings of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
With her husband, Philip Guest, she owns and operates Freewheeling Adventures, an adventure touring company which has orchestrated enthusiastic people, fascinating destinations, quality equipment, nutritious cuisine, and luxurious rest to create extraordinary active holidays for small groups and individuals since 1987. She teaches yoga in her beautiful Sail Loft Studio in The Lodge, near Hubbards, which is perched on the edge of St. Margaret's Bay. She also offers, in conjunction with Freewheeling, a four-day Yoga and Multisport Retreat; a five day Bike and Yoga trip which explores the quiet coastal roads along Nova Scotia's south shore; Yoga and Islands, a five day exploration of Mahone Bay and St. Margaret's Bay by seakayak and sailboat; and the popular Bike Skills and Yoga Workshop. New this year is a three day walking trip, with yoga, based at the stunning Summerville Beach Villas.
Catherine's special interests include chant (Sanskrit), writing, music, dance, and shamanic study. She is an avid outdoorswoman.
